Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the supply and installation of a condensate unit and the upgrade of door rubber in the walk-in freezer at Murchison Hospital. The project aims to ensure proper functioning of the freezer, maintain food safety standards, and improve the facility's infrastructure.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply and installation of a medium ambient condensate unit (10 kg capacity, 4.70 kW, 380V).
• Upgrade of the door rubber seal in the walk-in freezer located in the kitchen.
• Removal of old equipment and handover of the replaced units to the workshop.
• Testing, commissioning, and ensuring the equipment is in good working condition.
• Adherence to all relevant standards, specifications, and safety regulations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• The condensate unit must be a 10 kg medium ambient model, compliant with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Works standards (M_ACV, Issue 1, 1998).
• All electrical work must conform to the Department of Public Works and Land Affairs Standard Specification (December 1984) and relevant South African standards.
• The installation must include upgrading the rubber door seal in the walk-in freezer.
• All work must be performed in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85/1993 and related regulations.
• Proper testing, commissioning, and handover procedures are to be followed.
• All materials used must be approved and compliant with SABS standards.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• CIDB grading of EB1 and ME1, with proof of previous relevant work completed.
• Qualified electricians with valid trade test certificates and wireman’s licenses.
• Proof of registration with SAQCC Gas and qualification as a Refrigerants Technician (Gas Practitioner SAQCC Gas).
• Experience in installing and commissioning HVAC and refrigeration equipment in healthcare or similar environments.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including the submission of a comprehensive safety plan and relevant certificates.
• Ability to coordinate with hospital staff to minimize operational disruptions during installation.
