Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a qualified service provider to supply, install, maintain, and support a structured network cabling infrastructure at uShaka Marine World. The aim is to ensure reliable, standards-compliant network connectivity across multiple buildings and facilities, supporting operational, technological, and security requirements over a contract period of seven months.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Supply of network cabling materials and equipment, including cabinets, patch panels, cables, and accessories.
• Installation of structured cabling infrastructure within the existing ICT environment, including upgrades and extensions at new or upgraded sites.
• Maintenance and support services on an ad-hoc, rate-based basis, covering repairs, rectifications, and upgrades as required.
• Work closely with internal ICT and Networks teams, adhering to industry standards and using genuine CommScope products.
• Provision of services such as cable sorting, labeling, dust removal, and cabinet maintenance.
• Operate within a flexible contract framework, responding to operational needs without a fixed volume of work.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Installation of Category 6 cabling compliant with CommScope standards.
• Use of genuine CommScope products exclusively.
• Provision of various network equipment such as cabinets, fibre optic cables, splice trays, patch leads, and power supplies.
• Installation of network points, patch panels, trunking, conduits, and other infrastructure components.
• Physical assessment of network points for integrity, including patch panels, switches, and connectivity endpoints.
• Adherence to industry standards for cabling, installation practices, and safety.
• Work to be performed at multiple sites, including upgrading existing infrastructure and installing new network points at no extra cost.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Registration and good standing with the Central Supplier Database and eThekwini Supplier Portal.
• Relevant experience of at least 3 years in installation, testing, repairing, and splicing of optical fiber cables and structured cabling.
• Valid current certification from CommScope for cabling installation and maintenance.
• Proven experience in executing similar network cabling projects, especially those involving more than 20 network points.
• Technical expertise in Category 6 cabling standards and practices.
• Ability to work closely with internal teams, adhere to strict standards, and operate within governance controls.
• Capability to provide ad-hoc services including site assessments, repairs, upgrades, and documentation.
