Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a qualified service provider to supply, install, maintain, and support a structured network cabling infrastructure at uShaka Marine World. The contract aims to ensure reliable, standards-compliant network connectivity across multiple buildings and facilities, supporting the organization's ICT environment, operational demands, and future upgrades over a period of seven months.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Supply of network cabling materials and equipment, including cabinets, cables, patch panels, and accessories.
• Installation of structured network cabling infrastructure across existing and upgraded sites, including new installations and upgrades at no extra cost.
• Maintenance, repair, rectification, and replacement of network cabling and related components.
• Commissioning of network points and cabling systems.
• Ad-hoc support and upgrades based on operational requirements during the contract period.
• Operation within strict industry standards, exclusively using genuine CommScope products.

The services are rate-based and ad-hoc, with no fixed volume of work guaranteed, allowing flexibility for uShaka Marine World to procure services as needed.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Installation of Category 6 cabling in accordance with CommScope standards.
• Use of genuine CommScope products only; reproduction products are not acceptable.
• Physical assessment of network points, patch panels, switches, and connectivity endpoints to ensure integrity and compliance.
• Installation of network cabling at upgraded or new sites, including inter-floor connections, with rates quoted for each activity.
• Provision of network cabinets, patch panels, and accessories as per the Bill of Quantities.
• Adherence to industry standards for cabling, installation, and testing procedures.
• Support for fiber optic cabling, splicing, and associated hardware, with rates for splicing, hauling, and testing.
• Installation of various network components, including PoE injectors, media converters, power supplies, and wireless brackets, with specified rates.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider must demonstrate:

• Registration and good standing with the Central Supplier Database (CSD) and eThekwini Supplier Portal.
• Relevant experience in installation, testing, repairing, and splicing of optical fiber and structured cabling systems.
• Valid and current CommScope certification for cabling installation and maintenance.
• At least three years of experience in network cabling projects, particularly involving installation of more than 20 network points using CommScope standards.
• Ability to work closely with internal ICT and Networks teams, adhering to technical and governance standards.
• Compliance with tax and supply chain management requirements, including submission of tax clearance, TCC, and SARS TCS PIN.
• Capability to perform site assessments, cable installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance activities as per industry standards.
