Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver a suitable type portable dental unit that meets specified technical and quality standards, ensuring functionality, portability, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of a suitcase-type portable dental unit, including accessories such as handpieces, compressors, chairs, x-ray units, and other optional components as specified. The contract covers the provision of equipment that is fully operational, compliant with standards, and supported by training, warranty, and maintenance services.

Technical Requirements

• The system must be a latest technology, robust, designed for dental procedures, and operate on 220V ±10%, 50Hz single-phase power supply.
• The unit must be portable, self-contained, with pull-out handle and wheels, and include a compact, space-saving design.
• Must include high-quality motors (oil-free), with a tank capacity of at least 4L, air flow of 118L/min at 0°C, and operate at 6 Kgs/cm² pressure.
• Must include a high and low-speed air-driven handpiece, with control systems, water coolant, and triple syringe with foot control.
• Must include a portable vacuum unit for high and low volume suction, with specified capacity and ease of transport.
• Must include a portable dental chair with adjustable backrest, height, headrest, fold-down footrest, and lightweight design.
• Must include a portable dental x-ray unit with specified operational parameters, quick setup, and transport case.
• Additional accessories such as intraoral x-ray processing developer, portable patient light, assistant stool, operator stools, and optional accessories must be supplied as specified.
• All equipment must comply with relevant standards such as IEC 60601-1, CE certification, and SABS standards.
• Guarantee period of at least 24 months, with provisions for maintenance, calibration, and repair services.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in supplying and servicing dental equipment, with established service and repair facilities in KwaZulu-Natal.
• Qualified technical personnel trained by original equipment manufacturers, capable of installation, calibration, maintenance, and repairs.
• Ability to provide comprehensive training to end-users and technical staff on operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Capability to supply spare parts and consumables for at least 10 years post-delivery.
• Compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory standards, including Radiation Control licensing where applicable.
