Objectives

The primary objective is to procure reusable theatre gowns to alleviate shortages of cortical linen and standard surgical attire. The supply aims to maintain strict infection control protocols and ensure the continuous, aseptic execution of surgical procedures at Addington Hospital.

Scope

This is a once-off procurement covering 400 surgeon gowns, split evenly into 200 units of Large size and 200 units of X-Large size. Goods must be delivered directly to Addington Hospital. The quotation validity period is 90 days, and the contract structure involves a single delivery event. All quoted prices must be firm, inclusive of VAT (where applicable), and cover full delivery costs to the specified destination.

Technical Requirements

• Material Composition: 65% polyester and 35% cotton blend.
• Colour: Non-glaring light blue or green.
• Fabric Construction: Twill or poplin weave to guarantee durability and a smooth surface finish.
• Functional Properties: Water-repellent, breathable, lightweight, and autoclavable.
• Sizing: Strictly Large and X-Large as specified.
• Quality & Standards: Must comply with SABS/SANS specifications. Products must be brand new, unused, and possess a shelf-life validity of at least six months upon delivery.
• Sample Submission: Physical samples are mandatory for technical evaluation. Bidders must submit samples upfront for end-user scrutiny against the specification. Failure to secure sample approval results in immediate disqualification.

Skills and Compliance Requirements

• Administrative Documentation: Bidders must submit a valid Central Suppliers Database (CSD) report, SARS PIN/tax clearance verification, and B-BBEE status proof (sworn affidavit or certificate).
• Demonstrated Capacity: Proof of prior delivery capability is required, evidenced by a valid copy of at least one previous order and corresponding signed delivery note from a private or public healthcare facility.
• Regulatory Compliance: Full adherence to the General Conditions of Contract (GCC) and Special Conditions of Contract (SCC) is mandatory. All Standard Bid Document (SBD) forms, including interest disclosure and preference claims, must be completed accurately.
• Evaluation Process: Offers undergo a four-stage assessment: administrative compliance, specification compliance (sample approval), delivery capacity verification, and price/preference scoring. Non-compliance at any stage renders the bid non-responsive.
