Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure surgical non-woven 3-ply face masks that meet specified standards for use as personal protective equipment in a hospital setting. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of high-quality, hypoallergenic, breathable masks with appropriate filtration and fit, suitable for daily use in surgical environments.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply of 576 boxes of surgical face masks, totaling 28,800 units, to Greys Hospital in Pietermaritzburg. The masks must conform to detailed specifications including three layers, a metal nose strip, and compliance with FOA approval. The procurement is for a once-off delivery, with the products intended for use in theatre and other clinical areas.

Technical Requirements

• Non-woven 3-ply construction with 3 layers and 3-ply filter
• Hypoallergenic and breathable material
• Metal strip for nose adjustment, FOA approved
• High filtration capacity with a protective fit
• Disposable, single-use with double ties
• Packaged as 50 units per box, with 48 boxes in a case
• Conformance to the detailed specifications provided in the annexure, including size, color, and material standards
• Samples must be provided for evaluation

Skills and Competency Requirements

• Manufacturing or importing capacity to produce or supply medical-grade surgical masks that meet specified standards
• Compliance with South African health and safety standards, including SAHPRA licensing for manufacturing or distribution
• Quality assurance processes to ensure products meet the detailed specifications and standards
• Ability to provide samples and supporting documentation demonstrating product compliance
• Experience in supplying hospital or healthcare institutions with personal protective equipment
• Capacity to deliver the required quantity within the stipulated timeframe
• Knowledge of procurement procedures and compliance with government tender regulations
