Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a panel of qualified and experienced service providers to supply and deliver disaster materials to Maphumulo Local Municipality over a period of three years (36 months). The aim is to ensure the municipality has reliable access to essential building and disaster response materials as needed for emergency situations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of a range of building materials such as concrete blocks, cement, galvanised brick force, timber, nails, corrugated iron, steel windows, doors, and related items.
• Supply and delivery of these disaster materials to designated municipal locations.
• Appointing service providers to form a panel for ongoing supply over three years.

The scope also encompasses compliance with technical specifications, pricing, and delivery timelines as detailed in the tender document.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Having the specified building materials available, including:
• M150 Concrete Blocks
• NPC 32.5 Cement
• Galvanised brick force
• 6m SABS timber (50x76)
• Nails (SABS)
• Roof nails (SABS)
• 47 Corrugated Iron sheets (3.6m)
• ND2 Steel windows
• Meranti doors and frames
• 1.5m Block Lantel
• Ability to provide prices inclusive of VAT with annual escalation for each year of the contract.
• Demonstrated capacity to deliver within specified lead times (e.g., within 48 hours, 3 days, or 5 days).
• Compliance with quality standards and certification requirements.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required from bidders include:

• Proven track record in supplying building and disaster materials, supported by reference letters and project documentation (not older than 5 years).
• Availability of resources, including hardware layouts, company vehicles (logbook of 6-ton and above), and operational infrastructure.
• Financial viability demonstrated through recent bank statements (not older than 3 months) indicating sufficient liquidity.
• Capability to deliver within specified lead times, supported by proof of logistics and operational planning.
• Registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) and compliance with tax and legal requirements.
• Understanding of municipal procurement procedures and ability to adhere to bid submission protocols.
