Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to remove and replace the workshop bathroom water supply pipes, restoring full functionality and operational standards of the facility. This involves inspecting, isolating, removing damaged sections, installing new piping, reconnecting fixtures, testing for leaks, and ensuring safety and compliance.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Conducting a site inspection to assess pipe routing, damage, corrosion, and leakage.
• Isolating the water supply system before work begins.
• Locating the main supply pipe feeding all fixtures.
• Removing damaged or corroded sections of the main and branch lines.
• Supplying and installing new water supply pipes (matching existing material, diameter, and pressure rating unless approved otherwise).
• Reconnecting distribution lines to basins, toilets, and showers.
• Installing secondary isolation valves for localized shut-off.
• Replacing damaged materials and conducting pressure and leak tests.
• Verifying fixture functionality and ensuring zero leakage prior to handover.
• Reinstating and repairing affected surfaces, including cementing, surface repairs, and repainting.
• Supply and installation of ceramic wall tiles matching existing specifications.
• Ensuring the facility is left clean, safe, and operational.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Mandatory site inspection prior to quotation submission.
• Assessment of pipe routing, damage, corrosion, and leakage.
• Proper isolation of water supply before work.
• Removal of damaged sections and installation of new pipes using like-for-like materials.
• Installation of secondary isolation valves on fixtures.
• Pressure and leak testing of the entire system.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires the following skills and qualifications:

• Qualified Safety Management personnel with a National Diploma or equivalent, registered with SACPCMP.
• Competent supervisors with relevant supervisory courses, incident investigation, legal liability, and hazard identification training.
• Skilled plumbers experienced in pipe removal, installation, and testing, with knowledge of like-for-like piping materials and fittings.
• Personnel capable of surface repairs, tile installation, and surface reinstatement.
• Employees equipped with appropriate PPE conforming to occupational health and safety standards.
• Ability to develop and implement comprehensive health and safety plans, risk assessments, and emergency procedures.
• Experience in working within operational depots and petrochemical environments, with adherence to site-specific safety protocols.
