Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure and supply various uniforms and protective clothing items, including uniforms for food services staff, maids, boiler suits, safety shoes, and related personal protective equipment, for multiple health institutions within KwaZulu-Natal. The aim is to ensure the provision of quality, standard-compliant garments that meet safety, durability, and regulatory standards, supporting the operational needs of the Department of Health.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, and potential installation of a wide range of uniform items and protective clothing for different categories of staff across multiple institutions, including:

• Uniforms such as maids' dresses, boiler suits, and general staff uniforms.
• Personal protective equipment including safety shoes for males and females, and ladies lace-up shoes.
• Specific items like knitted jerseys, jackets, trousers, and accessories, with detailed specifications and sizes.
• Contract duration of 3 years (36 months), with options for supply and delivery within specified standards and local content requirements.

The procurement also includes adherence to technical standards (e.g., SABS, SANBS, ISO), quality standards, and local content thresholds (minimum 100% for textile, clothing, leather, and footwear). The scope covers all aspects from manufacturing, quality assurance, packaging, transportation, and compliance with statutory and safety standards.

Technical Requirements

• Items must conform to specified standards such as SABS 1387, SABS 1360-1, SANBS, and ISO where applicable.
• Materials specified include 100% cotton, polyester-cotton blends, high bulk acrylic, leather, and other approved fabrics.
• Design features include specific styles (e.g., V-neck jerseys, princess style dresses, open front jackets), sizes, and detailed measurements.
• Garments must be fully shrunk, durable, and meet safety standards such as non-slip, steel toe caps, heat resistance, and antistatic properties for footwear.
• Items should include necessary accessories like size tabs, fast dye tabs, and appropriate packaging to prevent damage during transit.
• All items must be delivered with proper documentation, labels, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.

• Manufacturing expertise in producing garments and footwear that meet technical and safety standards.
• Quality assurance and inspection capabilities to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Logistics and supply chain management skills for timely procurement, transportation, and delivery within contractual timelines.
