Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure uniforms and related maintenance staff apparel for the Maintenance Staff at GJGM Regional Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal. The aim is to ensure staff are equipped with standardized, compliant, and durable uniforms that meet specified standards and specifications.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply of various uniform items including work jackets, work trousers, socks, safety boots (electrician, welder, safety toe cap), and related accessories as detailed in the specifications. The procurement covers both the technical and administrative aspects necessary for the provision of these items to the hospital’s maintenance department, with delivery to the specified hospital location in KwaDukuza.

Technical Requirements

• Uniforms must conform to the specifications outlined in the annexure, including fabric type, weight, color, and design features such as pockets, zippers, and embroidery with the Department of Health logo.
• Items must meet relevant standards such as SABS or SANS approval.
• Uniform components include work jackets (navy, white, khaki), work trousers, socks, and safety footwear compliant with ISO 20345:2011 and other relevant safety standards.
• Uniforms should be durable, comfortable, and suitable for the working environment, with specific features like non-slip soles, heat resistance, penetration resistance, and reinforced stitching.
• Samples may be required for evaluation and must meet the detailed specifications provided.
• All items must be supplied with appropriate packaging, labeling, and documentation as per contractual and safety standards.

Skills Requirements

• Ability to produce uniforms that meet technical and safety standards specified in the tender documents.
• Experience in manufacturing or supplying industrial and safety apparel, with proven compliance to relevant standards (SABS, ISO).
• Capability to provide samples for evaluation and to adhere to quality assurance processes.
• Competence in timely delivery, proper packing, and documentation to ensure smooth procurement and distribution processes.
• Knowledge of procurement procedures, including compliance with departmental policies, preference points system, and legal requirements such as tax compliance and declaration of interest.
