Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations from qualified service providers for the repairs and maintenance of the upper deck support structures at uShaka Marine World. The aim is to replace corroded support structures, piping, beams, and other related components to prevent major failures and ensure the safety and integrity of the water park attractions, particularly the shipwreck platform and associated features.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Evaluation and replacement of corroded steel support structures, including beams, supports, and bolts.
• Cleaning, rust removal, and painting of steel structures to match existing themed colors, ensuring scenic and realistic aged effects.
• Replacement of piping with galvanized and primed materials suitable for themed environments.
• Preparation of steel surfaces for painting, including cleaning and rust removal.
• Application of exterior themed paint to match existing colors and textures, creating a weathered shipwreck appearance.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations during all phases of work, minimizing impact on guests, staff, and animals.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Use of experienced professionals in rigging, steel fabrication, piping, welding, and scenic painting.
• Preparation of steel surfaces for painting, including cleaning and rust removal.
• Application of galvanized and primed piping.
• Matching existing themed colors with layered scenic techniques to produce a naturalistic, aged appearance.
• Use of high-humidity or marine-grade paint systems suitable for the environment.
• Compliance with health and safety standards as per the OSHE Act, including providing a safety file.
• Evaluation of quantities during site visit and adherence to site-specific instructions.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in steel and piping fabrication, welding, and rigging works in corrosive or marine environments.
• Expertise in scenic and themed painting techniques to achieve aged, weathered effects.
• Capability to prepare steel surfaces for painting, including rust removal and surface cleaning.
• Ability to work safely in a live environment with guests, staff, and animals present.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to produce a comprehensive safety plan.
• Experience in working on similar maintenance and repair projects within entertainment or recreational facilities.
