Objectives

The primary objective of the tender is to procure the supply, manufacture, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of a new industrial vacuum pump and associated piping in Bayhead Wagons in Durban. The project aims to ensure the provision of a fully operational vacuum system that meets specified technical and safety standards, supporting Transnet's operational requirements.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Design, manufacture, supply, and testing of a new industrial vacuum pump and piping system.
• Installation and commissioning of the equipment at Bayhead Wagons Depot, Durban.
• Provision of all necessary accessories, including baseplates and exhaust silencers.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Providing documentation such as operation & performance manuals, material certificates, and test reports.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Design and manufacture of a vacuum pump system capable of achieving specified operating pressures, ultimate vacuum, and power consumption.
• Mechanical installation requirements, including flange sizes and piping layout to prevent cavitation and flow restrictions.
• Electrical & control specifications, including motor efficiency, voltage, frequency, and safety features.
• Compliance with relevant standards such as SABS, British Standards, and applicable safety and environmental regulations.
• Testing and commissioning procedures to verify vacuum performance, safety, and system integrity.
• Provision of qualified personnel, including ECSA-registered engineers or technologists, with CVs and relevant qualifications.
• Implementation of quality management systems, including ISO certification, and detailed project execution plans.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender specifies the following skills and qualifications:

• Qualified engineers or technologists registered with ECSA responsible for design, installation, and commissioning.
• Certified technicians with experience in industrial vacuum systems.
• Proven track record with at least four successful installations of similar vacuum systems within the last 10 years.
• Team members with relevant qualifications, CVs, and professional certificates.
• Capability to prepare detailed execution, testing, and commissioning plans, including site safety and quality management.
• Personnel must demonstrate competence in compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, including ISO certifications.
