Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure visual assistive devices for patients diagnosed with refractive errors. The devices include various spectacles, contact lenses, and low vision aids, aimed at improving visual capabilities for patients across multiple healthcare facilities within KwaZulu-Natal.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of a range of visual assistive devices, including spectacle sets (single, bifocal, multifocal), contact lenses (hard/scleral), telescopes, magnifiers, and other low vision aids. The procurement covers multiple hospitals and clinics under the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal, with a contract period of six months. The devices must meet specified standards and specifications, including compliance with relevant quality and safety standards.

Technical Requirements

• Supply and delivery of specified visual assistive devices as detailed in the technical specifications, including spectacle frames, contact lenses, telescopes, and magnifiers.
• Devices must conform to SABS/SANS standards and be approved for use in medical settings.
• Items must be new, unused, and of the latest models with incorporated recent design improvements.
• Devices should cater to various face shapes, sizes, and age groups, including children from 3 months old.
• Availability of a variety of colors and sizes, with pupillary distance ranges from 40 to 80mm.
• Optional accessories and replacement parts must be quoted, including frames, lenses, and screws.
• Samples of the items must be submitted with the tender documents for evaluation.

Skills Requirements

• Knowledge of optical and ophthalmic device standards and specifications.
• Experience in supplying medical optical devices and accessories.
• Understanding of procurement procedures, including compliance with government regulations and standards.
• Ability to provide technical support and documentation, including product specifications and compliance certificates.
• Capacity to deliver within specified timeframes and ensure quality assurance through sample submission and adherence to specifications.
