Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure and supply visual assistive devices for a 12-month contract period to Greytown Hospital, ensuring the provision of essential optical aids such as spectacles, low vision devices, and related accessories to support patients with visual impairments.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, and potential installation of various visual assistive devices, including:

• Complete sets of spectacles (single vision, bifocal, multifocal, ready-made)
• Spectacle frames suitable for all face shapes and sizes, including children
• Low vision devices such as telescopes, magnifiers, and binoculars
• Accessories for spectacles (replacement parts, coatings, etc.)
• Optional accessories and disposables necessary for immediate use

The contract duration is 12 months, with deliveries to be made as requested by the hospital, and invoices to be issued based on actual quantities delivered within this period.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Standards compliance: All devices must be SABS approved and meet the detailed specifications outlined in Annexure A and the technical specifications document.
• Product types: Complete spectacles with various lens types and coatings, frames suitable for diverse face shapes, and low vision aids with specified magnifications.
• Materials: Use of high-quality, durable materials with options for high refractive index lenses for higher prescriptions.
• Accessories: Replacement parts, coatings, and optional accessories listed with specified prices.
• Guarantees: A minimum warranty period of 12 months for supplied goods, with provisions for repairs or replacements.
• Delivery: Timely delivery in accordance with the specified schedule, with all packaging to prevent damage during transit.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Technical expertise in optical device manufacturing, assembly, and quality assurance
• Experience in supplying medical or assistive devices to healthcare facilities
• Capability to meet detailed technical specifications and standards
• Ability to provide technical support, training, and after-sales service
• Compliance with procurement policies, including preference points and BBBEE requirements
