Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to invite qualified bidders to provide repair services for the roof of the Customs Building in Cape Town, Western Cape. The aim is to ensure the roof is properly repaired to maintain the integrity and safety of the building.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Removal and replacement of flashings at the junction of the roof with parapet walls using galvanized sheet iron.
• Repairs to galvanized iron roof covering, including locating leaks, replacing defective screws, fixing damaged corrugations, and repairing flashing, ridging, and valley linings.
• Provision and laying of waterproofing membrane (roofing membrane) over rafters with approved waterproofing materials.

All work must be carried out in accordance with the detailed scope, specifications, and standards provided in the tender documents, including adherence to relevant safety and quality standards.

Technical Requirements

• Proper removal and installation of galvanized flashings and roof covering materials.
• Leak detection and sealing, including soldering and fixing of damaged sections.
• Installation of waterproofing membranes with appropriate underlay and reflective foil laminates.
• Compliance with SABS specifications and relevant building standards.
• Provision of detailed cost breakdowns, work schedules, and quality assurance documentation.
• Site safety and security measures, including security clearance where applicable.
• Submission of all required documentation, including registration on the Central Supplier Database, BBBEE certificates, and tax compliance proof.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified roofing specialists with experience in galvanized iron roofing and waterproofing systems.
• Skilled technicians capable of leak detection, soldering, and roofing membrane installation.
• Personnel with relevant safety and security clearance, if required.
• Ability to prepare detailed work schedules, cost estimates, and quality assurance reports.
• Knowledge of applicable South African standards (e.g., SABS specifications) and safety regulations.
• Effective communication skills for coordination and reporting.
