Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to acquire professional services for conducting structural integrity assessments of buildings at Cape Town International Airport. The service provider will evaluate the structural condition, identify potential failures or hazards, and provide cost estimates and supervision for necessary repairs. The ultimate goal is to ensure the safety and integrity of the structures through comprehensive assessment, remediation, and improvement works.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Performing structural condition assessments of all identified buildings at Cape Town International Airport.
• Determining structural integrity and identifying defects or risks.
• Providing cost estimates for repairs and supervising remediation works based on assessment findings.
• Conducting repairs and improvements as recommended by the assessment.
• Refer to Part C3 in the NEC3 Professional Services Contract for detailed scope of work.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that bidders must:

• Price their proposals according to the NEC3 Professional Services Contract pricing schedule (Part C3).
• Demonstrate experience in structural condition assessments, particularly in high-rise, bridge, or structural engineering facilities.
• Provide detailed CVs and proof of professional registration (e.g., Pr. Eng or equivalent).
• Describe their methodology and approach to condition assessments, including testing techniques, quality assurance, and innovation.
• Submit contactable references for similar projects completed within the last 10 years.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory and contractual standards for structural assessments and repairs.

Skills Requirements

The skills and expertise required from bidders include:

• Proven experience in structural condition assessments of complex buildings and infrastructure.
• Qualified structural engineers with more than 10 years of relevant experience.
• Professional registration with recognized bodies such as ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa).
• Capability to develop and implement assessment methodologies, including testing and quality assurance processes.
• Strong project management and supervision skills for repair and remediation works.
• Ability to provide detailed reports, cost estimates, and supervision for repairs based on assessment outcomes.
