Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a suitable, qualified, and experienced service provider to render Rock Engineer services to the Alexkor RMC Joint Venture Mine in Richtersveld for a period of three (3) years.

Scope

The scope of work includes providing rock engineering services, conducting investigations and inquiries, and performing up to four (4) visits per year by the appointed rock engineer. All travel, accommodation, and associated costs are to be included within the tender amount. The services are to support the mine's operations, ensuring safety and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Technical Requirements

• Development of a methodology and activity plan demonstrating understanding of the Terms of Reference (ToR) and rock engineering requirements.
• Compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations, and best practices.
• Provision of qualified personnel, including a rock engineer with specific experience and registration with SANIRE and the Chamber of Mines.
• Demonstration of relevant experience, skills, and ability to deliver services effectively, including previous experience in open cast diamond mines.
• Provision of contactable references confirming similar services rendered.
• Adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, including compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act, NEMA, and other relevant legislation.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience of the proposed team members, especially the rock engineer, with a minimum of 3-5 years in rock engineering services.
• Registration with SANIRE and membership with the Chamber of Mines for the designated rock engineer.
• Ability to prepare and present technical reports and activity plans.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
• Capacity to conduct investigations, site visits, and inquiries efficiently.
• Demonstrated ability to work within safety and environmental standards relevant to mining operations.
