Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a Fire Expert who will advise the Technical Executive Committee of Agrément South Africa on the certification of construction products and building systems. The expert will review test reports, draft certificates, and provide both written and oral opinions to ensure compliance with assessment criteria and standards.

Scope

The scope includes providing expert advice on pending certification of construction products and building systems, reviewing relevant test reports and draft certificates prior to meetings, engaging in discussions with other experts and committee members, and recommending or rejecting draft certificates for approval. The appointed expert will participate in meetings, contribute to discussions, and support the certification process.

Technical Requirements

• Expertise in fire safety and related construction products and systems.
• Ability to review test reports and draft certification documents.
• Provision of written and oral opinions on certification drafts.
• Engagement in discussions with other experts and committee members.
• Availability to attend meetings and deliver reports within specified timeframes.
• Adherence to the remuneration rates of R1800 per hour for preparation (minimum 4 hours) and a sitting fee of R3669 per meeting.
• Registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) or eligibility for registration.

Skills Requirements

• Extensive knowledge and experience in fire safety engineering and construction products.
