Objectives

The primary objectives of this tender are to:

• Identify and engage committed and enthusiastic farmers to improve their businesses and establish long-term contracts with the private sector and local consumers to promote local beneficiation.
• Create, expand, and revive the local agriculture sector.
• Generate employment through enhanced agricultural support.
• Support local farmers to participate both within and outside Umdoni.
• Secure private sector support and commitment.
• Develop a competitive advantage through products farmed in Umdoni LM.
• Encourage youth involvement in the agriculture sector.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of ploughing services for municipal-approved community gardens and farmers.
• Collaboration with the Department of Agriculture on ploughing techniques.
• Provision of various plough blades to suit different crops.
• Assistance in transportation of products to local, regional, and national suppliers.

The municipality will supply a list of community gardens per cluster for ploughing, and bidders will submit pricing schedules accordingly.

Technical Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate experience and skills in:

• Ploughing services
• Relations with local retail and fresh produce markets
• Understanding of soil types relevant to seed plantation
• Agriculture funding resource mobilization
• Agriculture management

Prospective panellists should illustrate their technical expertise and experience in their proposals, as they may be called upon to advise the municipality on related planning activities.

Skills Requirements

Proposals should cover expertise in the following categories:

• Business management
• Tractor support services
• Agriculture resource mobilization
• Farm management

Applicants must provide information on human resources, including CVs, qualifications, and contact details, involved in the project. Staffing arrangements should remain consistent throughout the project unless prior approval is obtained.
