Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a panel of service providers responsible for supplying and delivering ticket materials over a period of thirty-six (36) months, as and when required, to the KwaZulu-Natal region. The aim is to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain for ticket materials that meet specified quality and technical standards, supporting PRASA's operational needs.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes the supply and delivery of various ticket materials such as:

• ITix Ticket Rolls
• Thermal Ribbons
• POS Thermal Paper Rolls

Materials must conform to detailed specifications regarding dimensions, quality, security features, and compatibility with specified printers. Delivery is to be made as required within the contractual period, ensuring timely supply across the KwaZulu-Natal region.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the ticket materials include:

• Ticket Rolls: Continuous, joint-free rolls wound onto central cores with specified inner and outer diameters, width, and wound direction. Material must withstand transport and storage conditions without deformation.
• Printing Surface: Must provide high-resolution printing, be absorbent, dimensionally stable, and resistant to smearing, erasure, and forgery. Security background printing with the word "METRORAIL" at 45º angle, and security features such as fluorescent inks and security backgrounds.
• Security Features: Background security printing, anti-forgery features, and clear, durable print quality for thermal and impact printers.
• Thermal Ribbons: Smearless, black, with specified viscosity, melting point, hardness, and tensile strength, suitable for thermal transfer printing.
• POS Thermal Paper Rolls: White, continuous, wound on central cores, with specified dimensions, security printing, and compatibility with POS printers.
• Pricing and Delivery: Fixed prices in Rand, inclusive of taxes, with clear cost breakdowns, delivery timelines, and conditions for price escalation.

Skills Requirements

The skills and competencies required from service providers include:

• Proven experience in supplying high-quality ticket materials and consumables.
• Technical expertise in manufacturing or sourcing ticket rolls, thermal ribbons, and POS paper rolls that meet detailed specifications and security features.
• Ability to ensure compatibility with specified printers (PRINTRONIX SL/T4M, ARGOX IX4-250, etc.) and adherence to security and quality standards.
• Capacity to manage logistics and timely delivery within the contractual period across the KwaZulu-Natal region.
• Compliance with legal, tax, and procurement regulations, including registration on the National Treasury’s Central Supplier Database (CSD).
• Ability to provide samples, references, and documentation demonstrating previous relevant experience and compliance with technical standards.
