Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified and accredited service provider responsible for the replacement, inspection, servicing, and maintenance of fire-fighting equipment across Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife East Region Facilities. The aim is to ensure all fire safety equipment remains fully operational, compliant with relevant safety standards and regulations, and capable of providing effective fire protection throughout the contract period.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Replacement, inspection, servicing, and maintenance of various fire-fighting equipment such as extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, signage, and fire detection systems.
• Pressure testing, refilling, repairing, and replacing defective or irreparable fire equipment.
• Installation of new fire safety equipment including signage, cabinets, and hose reels.
• Responding to call-outs for faults, damages, vandalism, or theft of fire equipment, 24/7 as required.
• Providing training to staff on fire equipment use and maintenance.
• Maintaining detailed records of inspections, servicing, replacements, and repairs.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• The service provider must be registered with the CIDB with a contractor grading of 2SF or higher.
• The provider must possess relevant accreditation and certification for servicing fire equipment, including SAQCC registration for technicians.
• All fire equipment must be serviced and maintained in accordance with applicable standards, legislation, and manufacturer specifications.
• Spare parts must be original or approved equivalents, readily available, with a stock inventory maintained for critical components.
• All work must adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper documentation, risk assessments, and safety procedures.
• Responders must be available 24/7 for emergency call-outs, with clear response times and procedures.
• Equipment used must meet calibration standards and safety requirements, with inspections documented regularly.

Skills Requirements

The tender stipulates that:

• Technicians must be registered with the South African Qualification & Certification Committee (SAQCC) for fire protection installation and servicing.
• Personnel must have relevant experience in fire equipment servicing, inspection, and maintenance.
• Staff involved in installation, repairs, and servicing must hold valid certifications and be competent in their respective roles.
• The service provider must demonstrate capacity to source and supply spare parts promptly, maintaining high-quality standards.
• All personnel must be trained in health and safety procedures, with records of training and competency maintained.
