Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified and accredited service provider responsible for the replacement, inspection, servicing, and maintenance of fire-fighting equipment at Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife West Region facilities over a period of twelve (12) months. The aim is to ensure all fire safety equipment remains fully operational, compliant with relevant safety standards and regulations, and capable of providing effective fire protection across designated sites.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Replacement, inspection, servicing, and maintenance of various fire-fighting equipment such as fire extinguishers (STP DCP and CO2), fire hoses, hydrants, signage, fire detector systems, and related accessories.
• Pressure testing and refilling of fire suppression units and extinguishers.
• Servicing and testing of fire hydrants, hoses, and associated components.
• Installation of new fire safety signage, cabinets, and control systems.
• Provision of emergency call-out services, including 24/7 response for faults, damages, or emergencies.
• Provision of spare parts, tools, and materials for repairs and replacements, ensuring availability within specified timeframes.
• Conducting routine and scheduled maintenance during normal working hours, with provisions for after-hours and emergency responses.
• Providing detailed reports, certificates, and documentation of all inspections, servicing, repairs, and replacements.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that the service provider must:

• Hold a valid CIDB grading of 2SF or higher, with proof of relevant project experience.
• Be registered on the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and provide proof of registration.
• Assign qualified technicians registered with the South African Qualification & Certification Committee (SAQCC) for fire extinguisher installation, repair, and maintenance, with valid certificates.
• Use approved, compliant tools and materials for all servicing and replacements.
• Ensure all fire equipment is installed, serviced, and maintained according to applicable standards, regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain proper documentation and records of all inspections, servicing, repairs, and replacements.
• Respond promptly to call-outs and emergencies, providing 24/7 availability.
• Provide pressure testing, refilling, and certification for fire suppression systems and extinguishers.
• Ensure all fire safety signage and control systems are correctly installed and functional.

Skills Requirements

The tender specifies that the service provider and its personnel must possess:

• CIDB registration with a grading of 2SF or higher.
• Technicians registered with SAQCC with valid fire protection installation certificates.
• Proven experience in servicing, inspecting, and replacing fire-fighting equipment, supported by references and project certificates.
• Knowledge of relevant South African safety standards, legislation, and regulations related to fire safety and equipment.
• Ability to perform pressure testing, repairs, and replacements using approved and certified materials.
• Competence in emergency response, including call-out services and troubleshooting faults promptly.
• Good record-keeping and reporting skills to maintain compliance documentation and service records.
• Effective communication skills for coordination and reporting with Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife staff and management.
