Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a recycling company responsible for the collection, disposal, and destruction of non-ICT redundant assets from various locations, including the NRF-SAEON Office and other specified sites across different provinces. The aim is to ensure environmentally responsible disposal of obsolete assets and compliance with relevant regulations.

Scope

The scope encompasses the collection, transportation, and environmentally sound disposal or destruction of a wide range of redundant assets, including but not limited to:

• Electrical appliances (e.g., fridges, water dispensers, photocopiers, shredders)
• Water sampling and measurement equipment (e.g., water samplers, loggers, sensors)
• Laboratory and environmental monitoring devices (e.g., data loggers, sensors, weather stations)
• Survey and field equipment (e.g., drones, GPS devices, cameras)
• Other miscellaneous assets listed in the asset register from various provincial sites

The assets are located at different sites including Gqeberha (Eastern Cape), Pretoria, Phalaborwa (Limpopo), Pietermaritzburg, Kimberly, and Cape Town.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of collection and transportation services for all listed assets
• Secure handling and destruction of sensitive or hazardous items, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards
• Proper documentation and reporting of asset disposal/destruction processes
• Adherence to environmental regulations and standards for waste management
• Possession of necessary permits and licenses for waste disposal and destruction activities
• Use of environmentally friendly and certified recycling and disposal methods

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in handling and disposing of electronic waste and hazardous materials
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards
• Capacity to manage logistics across multiple provincial sites
• Qualified personnel trained in safe handling and destruction of sensitive assets
• Ability to provide detailed documentation and reporting on disposal activities
• Environmental management certification or accreditation (if applicable)
