Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a recycling firm responsible for the disposal of four (4) redundant X-ray machines at the SABC Free State Office in Bloemfontein. The project aims to safely decommission and dispose of obsolete equipment to eliminate occupational health and safety risks, free up storage space, and ensure proper documentation and certification of disposal.

Scope

The scope of the project includes:

• Decommissioning and disposal of four obsolete X-ray machines stored at the Bloemfontein storerooms.
• Proper documentation of the decommissioning and disposal process.
• Provision of a Certificate of Safe Disposal to SABC.
• Collaboration with SABC staff to compile a register of assets removed, enabling asset register updates.
• Disposal at no cost to SABC, with preference given to a bidder offering to take the entire lot.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the successful bidder include:

• Ensuring proper documentation of the decommissioning and disposal process.
• Providing a Certificate of Safe Disposal upon completion.
• Working with SABC staff to maintain an asset removal register.
• Adhering to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards during disposal.
• Ensuring all equipment is properly decommissioned and disposed of in compliance with SAHPRA regulations.

Skills Requirements

The bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in the safe disposal and recycling of medical and electronic equipment, particularly X-ray machines.
• Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, including SAHPRA requirements.
• Capability to provide proper documentation and certification of disposal.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with SABC staff and maintain accurate asset records.
• Competence in handling sensitive and potentially hazardous equipment in a compliant manner.
