Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint an experienced service provider to carry out repairs and maintenance of transformers and mini-sub-stations at Isithebe, Madadeni, and Ezakheni Industrial Estates over a period of thirty-six months. The aim is to ensure reliable electrical distribution by maintaining equipment at optimal efficiency, minimizing power losses, and ensuring safety and operational integrity of the electrical infrastructure.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of maintenance and repair services for transformers and mini-sub-stations at specified sites.
• Carrying out all necessary procedures such as testing, oil purification, gasket replacement, painting, and component repairs as per approved maintenance plans.
• Supply of all equipment, materials, and parts required for maintenance activities unless otherwise specified.
• Performing MV switching procedures to ensure safety before work commences.
• Analysis of transformer oil and other diagnostic tests, including sample transportation and reporting.
• Replacement of faulty components such as sight glasses, gauges, tap changers, and breather filters.
• Painting and cleaning of transformer surfaces and conservator tanks.
• Adherence to approved maintenance plans and work orders throughout the contract period.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of qualified electrical artisans with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in transformer and substation maintenance.
• Availability of specialized equipment such as Fluidex oil purification units, generators, and cranes, verified through company asset registers.
• Use of approved gasket and seal materials compatible with transformer oil up to 121°C.
• Implementation of oil analysis, including water content, dielectric properties, and dissolved gases, with laboratory testing and reporting.
• Painting of transformer surfaces with specified primer and paint types, ensuring durability and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
• Adherence to safety protocols, including MV switching procedures and work permit systems.
• Preparation and submission of maintenance plans aligned with approved schedules.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Qualified electrical artisans with at least 7 years’ experience in transformer and substation maintenance.
• Proficiency in oil analysis, gasket replacement, and electrical component repairs.
• Capability to operate and maintain specialized equipment such as Fluidex purification units, generators, and cranes.
• Experience in painting and surface treatment of electrical equipment.
• Ability to prepare detailed maintenance plans and reports.
• Compliance with safety standards and procedures for electrical work.
• Provision of references from previous projects of similar scope and complexity.
