Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified Service Provider to supply Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniforms to six SANBI centres, namely the Pretoria National Botanical Garden, Lowveld National Botanical Garden, KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden, Free State National Botanical Garden, Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden, and Thohoyandou National Botanical Garden. The supplies are to be provided as and when required over a period of five (5) years, ensuring safety, branding, and appropriate attire for staff across these centres.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Provision of branded PPE and uniforms to six SANBI centres located in different regions.
• Delivery of PPE and uniforms on an annual basis and upon request throughout the contract duration.
• Branding and distribution of PPE and uniforms tailored to each centre’s needs.
• Adherence to specifications outlined in Annexure A, including various PPE items and uniforms.
• Management of stock, timely delivery, and compliance with safety standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements are detailed in Annexure A and include:

• Personal Protective Equipment such as safety boots, gloves, helmets, goggles, respirators, and chainsaw chaps, meeting relevant safety standards (e.g., SABS, EN standards).
• Uniforms including shirts, trousers, overalls, jackets, and accessories, with specified fabric types, colours, and sizes.
• Branding of PPE and uniforms with SANBI logos where applicable.
• Provision of textile data sheets, warranties, and OH&S risk management documentation for all items supplied.
• Items must comply with quality management standards (ISO 9001) and relevant safety regulations.
• Pricing must be inclusive of all costs, fixed for the contract duration, with provisions for additional items if required.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• At least five (5) years of experience in supplying PPE and uniforms, with relevant expertise in safety gear and apparel.
• Capability to manage stock, logistics, and timely delivery across multiple locations.
• A competent project team including a Contract Manager with relevant experience (minimum 3 years), and sales personnel with appropriate skills.
• Proven track record with at least five (5) similar contracts in the past five years, supported by reference letters.
• Financial stability demonstrated through audited financial statements and bank ratings.
• Ability to provide comprehensive implementation plans, including risk management, stock control, and delivery schedules.
• Compliance with SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) standards, including valid COIDA documentation.
