Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to render horticultural tunnel production mentorship for the Dumeya Agricultural Cooperative and associated cluster farms. The mentorship aims to build capacity in greenhouse vegetable production, support the transition to protected cultivation systems, and ensure the cooperative becomes a fully functional, commercially viable enterprise producing vegetables such as peppers and cucumbers under greenhouse structures.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of hands-on technical mentorship in greenhouse operations and management.
• Training and advisory support to Dumeya Cooperative and cluster enterprises (Asembo Farm, Khonamanje Cooperative, Adel Bue Farm) over a 12-month period.
• Support for the installation, management, and optimization of three fully installed greenhouse structures (10m x 30m each).
• Capacity building in business, financial management, and market readiness.
• Conducting practical training sessions (minimum of three per week) and monthly advisory meetings.
• Providing reports on progress, harvest outcomes, compliance, and sustainability recommendations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Demonstrated experience in greenhouse horticulture, protected cultivation, and agribusiness development.
• Provision of a project team with relevant expertise, including a Project Leader specialized in greenhouse horticulture (formal NQF Level 7 qualification or certified course).
• Evidence of previous successful projects involving protected vegetable cultivation, farmer training, and enterprise capacity building.
• Development of a detailed methodology and approach aligned with the Terms of Reference (TOR).
• Provision of CVs and qualifications of key personnel involved.
• Regular reporting on technical activities, training sessions, and project milestones.

Skills Requirements

The service provider must possess:

• Proven expertise in greenhouse vegetable production, crop management, pest and disease control, fertigation, and irrigation systems.
• Experience in delivering practical training and capacity building to smallholder farmers and MSMEs.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate training, advisory services, and reporting.
• Ability to develop and implement training programs that are practical, on-site, and aligned with live production activities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build sustainable, market-ready horticultural enterprises.
