Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to perform servicing, repairs, and maintenance of the fire fighting equipment at Golden Gate Highlands National Park (GGHNP). The service aims to ensure that all fire safety systems and equipment are operational, compliant with safety standards, and ready for emergency use.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Servicing and repairs of various fire fighting equipment including fire extinguishers, hydrants, hose reels, and fire detection systems across multiple buildings and locations within GGHNP.
• Supply and delivery of fire safety components such as CO2 cylinders, fire nozzles, hose reels, fire hydrant hoses, and signage.
• Servicing of fire detection and alarm systems in specific buildings like the Hotel and Dinosaur Building.
• Inspection, pressure testing, and refilling of fire extinguishers and hydrants according to specified standards.
• Servicing of fire safety infrastructure including hydrants, hose reels, and fire alarm systems at designated camps and buildings.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that the service provider must:

• Perform servicing, repairs, and pressure testing of fire extinguishers (including 9kg, 4.5kg, 1kg units), hydrants (75mm and 22mm), hose reels, and fire detection systems.
• Supply and install fire safety components such as fire extinguishers, hose reels, signage, fire hydrant valves, and fire blankets.
• Ensure all equipment meets the specifications, including the use of ammonium phosphate-based powders for extinguishers and compliance with relevant safety standards.
• Complete servicing at various locations with specified distances from Gladstone, including camps and buildings.
• Provide documentation and certification of compliance, pressure testing, and servicing as required.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Relevant technical expertise in fire safety equipment servicing, including experience with fire extinguishers, hydrants, hose reels, and fire detection systems.
• Certification and registration with relevant authorities such as SAQCC (South African Qualification and Certification Committee) and CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board).
• Compliance with safety and quality standards for fire equipment maintenance and servicing.
• Ability to supply qualified personnel capable of performing pressure tests, repairs, and installations according to technical specifications.
• Knowledge of applicable legislation and standards related to fire safety and equipment servicing in South Africa.
