Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified and competent service provider to conduct a comprehensive Ergonomics Risk Assessment across the National Lotteries Commission's (NLC) operations. The assessment aims to proactively identify ergonomic hazards, evaluate associated risks, and recommend practical corrective measures to improve employee comfort, workstation suitability, and reduce musculoskeletal risks.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Conducting physical ergonomics assessments of relevant NLC work areas and workstations, including offices at various provincial locations and the SABS Campus office block.
• Assessing individual and/or representative workstations for ergonomic suitability based on ergonomic principles and best practices.
• Engaging with employees and NLC representatives where necessary.
• Providing clear, practical, and prioritized recommendations, including considerations for disability accessibility.
• Delivering a brief inception/work plan, draft report, and final report with NLC comments.
• Presenting findings and recommendations to NLC management and/or Occupational Health and Safety Committee if required.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the service provider include:

• Physical assessment of workstations to determine ergonomic suitability.
• Evaluation of workstation design, furniture, posture support, and workstation layout.
• Engagement with employees and NLC representatives during assessments.
• Provision of practical, prioritized recommendations to reduce ergonomic risks.
• Preparation of an inception/work plan, draft report, and final report with incorporation of NLC feedback.
• Assessment must consider disability accessibility.
• Demonstrable experience in conducting ergonomics risk assessments, especially in office environments.
• Qualified personnel, including a Team Leader with appropriate ergonomic or related qualifications (e.g., NQF 6 or above) and relevant experience.
• Compliance with relevant standards and professional affiliations (e.g., ESSA, PAB).

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in ergonomics risk assessments, particularly in office or administrative settings.
• Ability to conduct physical workstation evaluations and ergonomic suitability assessments.
• Strong project management skills to develop and execute a detailed work plan with clear deliverables and timelines.
• Qualified ergonomists or occupational health professionals with relevant certifications and experience.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with employees and presenting findings.
• Capability to develop practical, actionable recommendations tailored to diverse workstation needs, including accessibility considerations.
• Experience in report writing, including inception, draft, and final reports, with the ability to incorporate client feedback.
