Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified and experienced Occupational Medical Practitioner (OMP) to provide occupational health services for NRWDI staff at Vaalputs Office in the Northern Cape Province. The services aim to promote a healthy workforce, ensure compliance with relevant legislation, and support employee wellness through assessments, management of incapacity, return-to-work processes, and professional medical guidance.

Scope

NRWDI requires the service provider to deliver comprehensive occupational health services, including:

• Assessing employee fitness for work and recommending restrictions or accommodations.
• Managing temporary incapacity and supporting rehabilitation and return-to-work processes.
• Providing professional advice to HR and management on occupational health risks, reasonable accommodations, and legislation compliance.
• Conducting incapacity assessments and determining employee fitness status.
• Reporting with medical recommendations to management.

The services are to be provided as needed over a period of 2 years, with payment based on hourly rates, and must be delivered in Springbok or surrounding areas in the Northern Cape.

Technical Requirements

The service provider must:

• Hold a Medical Qualification (MBChB or equivalent) recognized by HPCSA.
• Be registered with the HPCSA.
• Possess specialized training in Occupational Medicine (Diploma, postgraduate diploma, or Master’s degree).
• Have knowledge of relevant legislation such as OHSA, COIDA, LRA, and EEA.
• Have at least 3 years of practical experience in workplace health assessments, incapacity management, occupational injuries, and medical surveillance.
• Be capable of delivering assessments within specified timescales and availability.
• Provide quotations per medical assessment required.

• Ability to evaluate fitness for work, recommend restrictions, and support return-to-work processes.
