Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint one or more service providers (not exceeding three) to undertake waterproofing of Rustenburg Local Municipality (RLM) facilities for a period of 36 months. The appointed service providers must possess a CIDB grading of 2SN or higher, ensuring they have the requisite capacity and competence to execute the waterproofing works effectively and safely.

Scope

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

• Waterproofing of roofs, basements, balconies, and other relevant structures with guarantees of up to ten years.
• Dampproofing of foundation walls and floors using approved materials such as Derbigum, Cemex damp-proofing, or equivalent systems.
• Application of waterproofing membranes on flat roofs, walls, turn-ups, and other surfaces, including sealing edges and penetrations.
• Installation of protective coatings, stone dressing, and roofing paints.
• Sealing joints, expansion joints, and around penetrations with approved sealants like Sikaflex FC11.
• Provision of additional services such as site preliminaries, safety measures, and management of health and safety compliance.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• Waterproofing membranes and materials must meet specified standards and be approved for use in the project.
• Application methods, including membrane laying, sealing, and joint treatment, must be discussed and approved by the Principal Agent prior to implementation.
• All waterproofing works must be laid to proper falls, with ridges, hips, valleys, and turn-ups sealed and turned down as per manufacturer instructions.
• Membranes must be sealed with approved adhesives, sealants, and flashing strips, with attention to internal and external angles, penetrations, and surface joints.
• All works must be guaranteed for up to ten years, with proper inspection, testing, and record-keeping.
• Additional services include site preliminaries, health and safety compliance, and quality assurance measures.

Skills Requirements

The tender stipulates that bidders must demonstrate:

• CIDB grading of 2SN or higher, indicating sufficient experience and capacity in waterproofing and related civil works.
• Proven competence in waterproofing membrane application, dampproofing, sealing, and surface preparation.
• Ability to execute waterproofing works under strict quality standards, including proper application techniques and sealing procedures.
• Experience in managing health and safety on construction sites, including adherence to Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards.
• Provision of qualified personnel, including site supervisors, safety officers, and technical experts with relevant training and certifications.
• Capability to prepare and implement comprehensive health and safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Ability to coordinate with the Principal Agent and adhere to technical specifications, application procedures, and quality control measures.
