Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to undertake an occupational hygiene monitoring survey within the Witzenberg Municipality. The survey aims to assess workplace environmental conditions, including ventilation, exposure to hazardous chemical and biological agents, and vibration, to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Conducting occupational hygiene monitoring surveys at workplaces within the municipality, covering towns such as Ceres, Prince Alfred’s Hamlet, Op-die-berg, Tulbagh, and Wolseley.
• Assessing stress factors such as ventilation adequacy, air movement, and concentrations of Carbon Dioxide and Carbon Monoxide.
• Ensuring surveys meet the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993, and relevant standards like SANS 10083:2023.
• Providing a project plan with realistic timeframes, with surveys conducted during working hours (07:30 to 16:00).
• Including travel and accommodation costs within the bid or as separate expenses.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications and requirements for the occupational hygiene monitoring survey include:

• Compliance with the Occupational Safety Act No. 85 of 1993 and SANS 10083:2023 standards.
• Assessment of occupational stress factors such as ventilation, chemical hazards, biological hazards, and vibration.
• Sampling and monitoring in areas where hazardous environmental conditions are present.
• Provision of a detailed project plan with achievable and realistic timeframes.
• Conducting surveys during normal working hours (07:30 - 16:00).
• Including all expenses such as admin, travel, subsistence, printing, and competence assessments in the bid price.
• Ensuring the survey results fulfill the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant standards.
• Providing a comprehensive report on findings, including ventilation adequacy and exposure levels.
