Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to develop and implement an automated solution for transformer oil testing at Eskom's Rosherville Laboratory. The automation aims to enhance testing capacity, improve data accuracy, ensure compliance with safety and operational standards, and increase overall laboratory efficiency. The project seeks to replace manual testing processes with integrated robotic and analytical systems to support future scalability and operational excellence.

Scope

The scope of this tender includes:

• Design and deployment of automated instrumentation for eight key transformer oil tests, including gas chromatography, Karl Fischer titration, potentiometric titration, dielectric strength testing, colorimetry/spectrophotometry, tensiometry, centrifugation, and capacitance/dissipation factor measurement.
• Integration of robotic systems for sample preparation, handling, and movement within the laboratory environment.
• Development of a seamless interface with the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Provision of all necessary hardware, software, commissioning, and support services to ensure a fully operational automated testing environment.
• Development of a detailed project plan, including technical specifications, system architecture, and implementation timeline.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that the solution must:

• Automate the specified eight tests without referencing specific makes or models, focusing on functionality and integration capabilities.
• Include automated analytical instruments such as gas chromatography, Karl Fischer titrator, potentiometric titrator, dielectric strength tester, colorimeter/spectrophotometer, tensiometer, centrifuge, and capacitance/dissipation factor tester.
• Feature integrated robotic systems for sample handling, preparation, and analysis.
• Ensure compatibility and seamless integration with existing laboratory infrastructure and the LIMS.
• Provide hardware and software components necessary for automation, including calibration and control systems.
• Support future scalability, safety, and compliance requirements.

Skills Requirements

Respondents must demonstrate:

• Relevant experience and proven capability in delivering laboratory automation projects, particularly in transformer oil testing or similar fields.
• Technical expertise in robotic systems, analytical instrumentation, and laboratory automation integration.
• Ability to develop and implement system architecture that combines robotics and analytical instruments effectively.
• Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) integration and data management.
• Project management skills to deliver the solution within the estimated timeline and budget.
