Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a Biokineticist who will work to minimize workplace injuries, reduce healthcare costs, and enhance employee productivity at PetroSA. The focus is on addressing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs), which are a significant occupational health challenge, by providing clinically proven, evidence-based exercise prescriptions and movement therapies. The role aims to promote sustained functional recovery and improve overall employee well-being through proactive rehabilitation and movement therapy interventions.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Providing rehabilitation services for employees affected by musculoskeletal issues.
• Assessing patients' conditions, recommending interventions, and estimating the number of sessions required.
• Offering recommendations to Occupational Medical Practitioners for individual employees and groups.
• Initiating exercise programs to improve fitness, circulation, and quality of life.
• Collaborating with PetroSA's internal medical team and overseeing activities in accordance with relevant legislation, including COIDA.
• Providing services across various PetroSA locations, including Mossel Bay, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Tzaneen, and Sandton, potentially engaging alternative Biokineticists if necessary.

Technical Requirements

The service provider must:

• Be situated near the PetroSA GTL Refinery and offshore installations, specifically within the Mossel Bay area.
• Be medically fit to render the services.
• Collaborate closely with PetroSA's medical team and oversee all activities related to occupational health.
• Adhere to all relevant legislation, including the Compensation of Occupational Health Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) No 130 of 1993.
• Be capable of providing rehabilitation services as needed, including for employees outside Mossel Bay, by engaging qualified alternative Biokineticists if required.

Skills Requirements

The ideal candidate must possess:

• Qualified and experienced in clinical movement therapy and exercise prescription.
• Ability to assess musculoskeletal conditions and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with PetroSA's medical team and other stakeholders.
• Good understanding of occupational health legislation and workplace safety standards.
• Medically fit to perform the required services.
