Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider to support and maintain the existing Community Access Television (CATV) system at three major airports (OR Tambo International, Cape Town International, and King Shaka International) for a period of twelve (12) months. The aim is to ensure continuous operation, support repairs, provide spare parts, and uphold signal quality and picture clarity across the airports.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of Maintenance and Support: Support, repairs, and parts replacement for the Televes CATV system at OR Tambo, Cape Town, and King Shaka airports.
• System Operation Assurance: Ensure systems are operational post-repair, with signal quality, noise, and modulation checked and recorded.
• Spare Parts Supply: Provide necessary spares such as RF cabling, HDMI/AV cabling, video converters, satellite dishes, LNBs, fibre transmitters/receivers, decoders, amplifiers, and TV brackets.
• Permits and Access: Apply and pay for access permits to restricted areas and parking fees.
• Quotation and Documentation: Provide detailed quotes before repairs, including parts used, repair date/time, and service status.
• Tools and Equipment: Use own tools, ladders, safety gear, and testing/configuration equipment for Televes Headend systems.

Out of scope includes:

• IT network infrastructure (switches, routers, LAN/WAN).
• Electrical power supply and distribution.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements focus on:

• Maintenance and support of the Televes CATV system across three airports.
• Ensuring RF signal integrity, picture quality, and system functionality.
• Provision of spare parts and related equipment for a 12-month period.
• Application for necessary permits and compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Use of own tools and testing equipment for system configuration and repairs.
• Adherence to incident management response times based on incident severity levels.

Support activities include assessment of devices, fault logging, channel rescanning, signal level checks, physical inspections, and monthly audits.

Skills Requirements

• Technical Support Skills: Ability to assess, troubleshoot, and repair Televes Head-End systems and associated equipment.
• Equipment Handling: Proficiency in using tools, ladders, safety gear, and testing/configuration devices specific to CATV systems.
• Knowledge of RF and Signal Quality: Expertise in RF signal measurement, noise management, and modulation quality assurance.
• Documentation and Reporting: Capable of providing detailed repair reports, incident logs, and system audits.
• Permitting and Compliance: Ability to apply for access permits and adhere to safety and security protocols.
• Partnership and Certification: Evidence of partnership with OEM (Televes) or relevant accreditation to work on Televes systems.
