Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to construct four (4) classrooms and changerooms with ablution facilities at Queen Nonesi Campus. The project aims to enhance the campus infrastructure by providing modern, compliant, and functional learning and sanitation facilities that meet relevant standards and client specifications.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Construction of four classrooms, including structural, finishing, and glazing works.
• Building changerooms and ablution facilities with associated plumbing and electrical installations.
• Installation of water tanks (e.g., 5000L JOJO tanks) and associated piping and drainage systems.
• Provision of electrical systems, including meters, distribution boards, lighting, switches, and fans.
• Implementation of foundation works, including reinforced concrete foundations and slab construction.
• Roofing using IBR roof sheeting and associated purlins and fascia.
• Installation of doors, windows, and glazing as per specifications.
• Finishing works such as plastering, painting, and sealing.
• Compliance with relevant standards, including SANS 10400 and other applicable codes.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Construction using materials that comply with specified standards, e.g., galvanized steel frames, timber doors, and monolithic annealed glazing.
• Structural elements designed and built to meet the cidb Grading 5GB or higher.
• Electrical installations including meters, distribution boards, lighting, switches, and fans, adhering to specified electrical legends and safety standards.
• Glazing and window specifications, including size, type, and safety glazing zones, in accordance with SANS 10400 Part N.
• Water and drainage systems, including water tanks, downpipes, and associated piping, ensuring durability and compliance.
• Roofing and ceiling systems with specified insulation and materials.
• Finishings such as plaster, paint, and door hardware, meeting client and standard requirements.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in constructing educational and institutional buildings, particularly classrooms and ablution facilities.
• Capability to undertake structural, electrical, plumbing, and finishing works to a high standard.
• Knowledge of and compliance with SANS 10400 standards and other relevant building codes.
• Ability to coordinate multiple trades and manage site safety and quality control effectively.
• Competence in working with galvanized steel, timber, glazing, and roofing materials specified in the tender documents.
• Capacity to deliver projects within the stipulated timelines and budget constraints.
