Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is the construction of internal roads and stormwater management infrastructure in Ward 5 - Sutelong Ph 1. The project aims to improve road infrastructure, facilitate effective stormwater drainage, and promote local employment through labour-intensive construction methods, aligning with government empowerment initiatives.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Site clearing, profiling, and earthworks for road construction
• Construction of layers of the road including sub-base and base layers
• Installation of culverts, kerbs, and paving
• Construction of stormwater drainage systems, including culverts, channels, and open drains
• Provision and installation of road signs, markings, and safety features
• Protection and relocation of existing services and utilities
• Construction of associated infrastructure such as guardrails, signage, and lighting
• Implementation of environmental management and safety measures
• Participation of emerging small contractors and local labour employment

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Adherence to the COLTO Standard Specifications, SABS standards, and project-specific specifications
• Use of labour-intensive construction methods for specified portions of the works
• Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations
• Proper setting out, leveling, and measurement of all works
• Installation of culverts, kerbs, and paving with specified materials and tolerances
• Implementation of environmental controls, including erosion protection and waste management
• Provision of adequate site facilities, security, and traffic management
• Regular inspections, testing, and quality control procedures
• Participation in job creation and empowerment initiatives, including employment of local labour and targeted enterprises

Skills and Skills Requirements
