Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a contractor to provide maintenance and repair services for sliding doors and access controls at King Shaka International Airport over a period of 36 months. The goal is to ensure the equipment operates reliably, safely, and in compliance with applicable standards, legislation, and OEM requirements, while achieving cost efficiency and maintaining high safety standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Preventive and corrective maintenance of all sliding and roller doors and access control assets within the airport premises.
• Fault diagnosis, reporting, and timely repairs to ensure system availability and safety.
• Provision of skilled staff including artisans and technical assistants to perform maintenance activities.
• Compliance with OEM standards, legal requirements, and safety regulations.
• Management of spare parts, procurement, and documentation as per specified procedures.
• Adherence to environmental, safety, and security policies during service delivery.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Maintenance of sliding doors, roller shutters, and access control systems, including inspection, adjustment, lubrication, and calibration.
• Use of OEM-approved parts and adherence to OEM standards for installation and repairs.
• Implementation of a comprehensive maintenance program with specified frequencies (e.g., biannual, annual checks).
• Provision of detailed maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and operational manuals.
• Regular testing of safety features such as sensors, locks, and emergency systems.
• Monitoring system performance against agreed service levels and response times.
• Reporting and documentation of all maintenance activities, incidents, and compliance checks.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in maintaining and repairing sliding doors, roller shutters, and access control systems, with relevant references.
• Qualified personnel including artisans with SAQA-accredited trade tests, N2/N3 Mechanical Qualifications, and relevant experience (minimum 2 years for artisans, 1 year for assistants).
• Capability to provide a skilled team capable of performing preventive and corrective maintenance without service interruption.
• Knowledge of OEM standards, safety legislation (OHS Act), and environmental policies.
• Ability to manage procurement, inventory, and documentation processes effectively.
• Competence in safety management, including risk assessments, incident reporting, and emergency procedures.
• Familiarity with airport security protocols, permits, and environmental regulations.

Overall, the contractor must possess the technical expertise, qualified personnel, and management capacity to deliver reliable, compliant, and safe maintenance services throughout the contract period.
