Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified contractor to undertake the cutting and removal of trees within Ray Nkonyeni Municipality over a three-year period. The goal is to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible tree management across designated areas, with an emphasis on experience, capacity, and compliance with safety standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Cutting and removal of trees in two main areas: North (Hibberdene to Oslo Beach including Ezinqoleni) and South (Shelly Beach to Port Edward).
• Handling trees of various girths: less than 3 meters, less than 5 meters, and less than 7 meters in girth.
• Disposal of all cuttings at the Oatlands Landfill Site.
• Provision of vehicles and equipment, including trucks and trailers, with specific capacity requirements.
• Completion of work within five days of receipt of an order, with penalties for delays.
• Adherence to safety, workmanship, and insurance requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Experience in tree cutting and removal, supported by references and past project details.
• Vehicles: at least one 3-ton truck and one 1-ton bakkie, or a 1-ton bakkie with a 2300kg GVM trailer.
• Workmanship insurance valued at R5 million, renewed annually.
• Compliance with safety standards, including the use of protective clothing and safety equipment.
• Completion of work within five days of order receipt, with penalties for non-compliance.
• Proper disposal of all cuttings at designated landfill sites.

Skills and Experience Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

• At least three (3) years of relevant experience in tree cutting and removal, supported by appointment letters or purchase orders.
• Capacity to handle the scope of work, evidenced by ownership or lease agreements for vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to provide proof of annual insurance renewal and safety compliance.
• Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to tree removal activities.
• Experience working within municipal or similar public sector environments is preferred.
