Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a 36-month (3-year) contract for the provision of comprehensive service, maintenance, and repair of generators at various client sites within the De Aar and surrounding regions. The aim is to ensure reliable generator operation, minimize downtime, and maintain optimal performance across multiple locations, thereby supporting the operational needs of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Routine servicing of standby generators every six months, including inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance.
• Repair and maintenance of generator electrical and mechanical components as required.
• Refurbishment of plant rooms associated with generator installations.
• Provision of day work for unforeseen repairs or urgent tasks, including site attendance and supervision.
• Supply and installation of electrical components such as LCD panels, controllers, and automatic voltage regulators (AVRs).
• Implementation of health and safety measures, site management, and environmental controls.
• Coordination with site facilities, security, and relevant authorities to ensure smooth operations.

Technical Requirements

The technical scope encompasses:

• Servicing of generators including inspection, testing, and calibration of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Electrical works such as installation of LCD panels, controllers, AVRs, and associated wiring.
• Mechanical works including replacement of parts, oil refills, and cooling system maintenance.
• Adherence to manufacturer specifications and standards (e.g., SANS standards, OEM guidelines).
• Implementation of health and safety standards as per the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Construction Regulations.
• Provision of qualified personnel, including electricians, technicians, and safety officers, with relevant certifications.
• Use of approved materials, equipment, and safety gear compliant with South African standards.
• Development and implementation of risk assessments, method statements, and safety plans.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

• Proven experience in generator servicing, electrical and mechanical repairs, and refurbishment projects.
• Qualified electricians and technicians with trade certificates and OEM certifications.
• Knowledge of electrical control systems, AVR installation, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to develop and implement health and safety management plans.
• Competence in project management, site supervision, and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
• Familiarity with South African standards (SANS) and compliance requirements for electrical and civil works.
• Capacity to provide trained personnel for emergency repairs and day work tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain quality standards and adhere to safety regulations throughout the contract period.
