Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to undertake disaster intervention works to restore and rehabilitate water and wastewater infrastructure affected by floods in the Ophuzane area. Specifically, the project aims to restore gabion structures, refurbish or replace pumps, and rehabilitate access roads to ensure the functionality and resilience of the water and wastewater systems in the Northern Region.

Scope

The scope of works includes:

• Restoration of gabion structures at Ophuzane Water Treatment Works (WTW).
• Refurbishment or replacement of pumps at Ophuzane WTW.
• Rehabilitation of access roads leading to the infrastructure sites.

Additional related works involve the cleaning of weirs and general rehabilitation of access roads at specified sites within the Northern Region of Zululand District Municipality.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• Demonstration of relevant plant and equipment ownership or signed lease agreements, including excavators, TLBs, tippers, graders, and rollers.
• Provision of proof of a valid CIDB grading of at least 3CE or higher for 3CE projects, or 2CE or higher for 2CE projects, as applicable.
• Evidence of experience with at least 3 completed road and stormwater projects of similar nature, size, and value, with supporting appointment letters or official orders.
• Qualifications: Minimum National Diploma in Civil Engineering with specified years of experience (minimum 3 years for full qualification, 2 years for partial, 1 year for minimal).
• Proof of local office within Zululand District Municipality boundaries or within KZN/South Africa, depending on the location of the contractor.
• Site inspection and clarification meetings at designated locations and dates.

Skills Requirements

The skills requirements for tenderers include:

• Qualified civil engineering personnel with relevant experience in road, stormwater, and water infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in operating and managing key plant and equipment necessary for the works.
• Ability to demonstrate experience through appointment letters, official orders, and project references.
