Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish an enabling agreement for the disposal of a specific lot of ferrous metal and steel pipes from Majuba Power Station in Mpumalanga. The contract aims to facilitate the purchase, collection, and removal of scrap ferrous materials on a once-off basis, ensuring efficient and compliant disposal aligned with Eskom’s requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• The purchase of ferrous metal and steel pipes from Majuba Power Station.
• Collection and removal of the scrap materials on an "as and when required" basis within Eskom Mpumalanga.
• Adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards during dismantling, handling, and transportation.
• Compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and legal requirements, including oil management and site safety protocols.

The scope is limited to a once-off transaction involving the disposal of specified scrap materials, with the contract period being on an "as and when required" basis within Eskom Mpumalanga.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for tenderers include:

• Demonstration of technical capability to handle scrap disposal efficiently and safely.
• Provision of a comprehensive approach and methodology for the collection and removal process.
• Compliance with Eskom’s safety, environmental, and quality standards as detailed in annexures (Annexure M, N, O).
• Implementation of safety measures, including SHE plans, risk assessments, and hazard management.
• Adherence to SHE specifications, oil spill management, and hazard control protocols.
• Provision of necessary safety equipment, PPE, fire-fighting equipment, and secure storage facilities.
• Management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, including oil and other contaminants.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The skills and competencies required from tenderers include:

• Proven experience in scrap metal handling, recycling, or related industries.
• Technical expertise in safe dismantling, collection, and transportation of ferrous scrap materials.
• Ability to demonstrate compliance with safety, health, and environmental legislation (e.g., OHSA, SHEQ standards).
• Capability to manage hazardous materials, including oil and other contaminants, in accordance with legal and safety standards.
• Effective project management skills to coordinate collection, transportation, and site safety procedures.
• Knowledge of Eskom’s contractual, safety, and environmental requirements, including SHE plans and risk assessments.
• Capacity to provide necessary documentation, certifications, and proof of compliance (e.g., COIDA, SHE policies, safety plans).
