Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to draw, fabricate, supply, deliver, replace, and install new pipework with fittings inside the cable tunnels and pipe trenches at Kriel Power Station. The work is to be completed over a period of six months, ensuring safe and compliant installation and replacement of pipe systems.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Drawing, fabrication, supply, and delivery of new pipework and fittings.
• Installation and replacement of existing pipework within cable tunnels and pipe trenches at Kriel Power Station.
• All activities must be completed within the six-month contract period.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Adherence to Eskom’s safety, health, environmental, and quality policies.
• Compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and Eskom specifications, including ISO 45001:2018.
• Development of comprehensive OHS plans aligned with Eskom’s minimum requirements.
• Preparation of safe work procedures/method statements aligned with risk assessments.
• Proper planning for safe working at heights, electrical work, and confined spaces.
• Implementation of risk assessments, hazard identification, and control measures.
• Provision and maintenance of PPE, firefighting equipment, first aid, and signage.
• Effective communication systems, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
• Regular audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
• Emergency preparedness and response planning.

Skills and Competency Requirements

The contractor must ensure personnel possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Competent persons with knowledge, training, experience, and qualifications specific to their roles, including safety officers, supervisors, and technical staff.
• Appointed statutory roles such as Health and Safety Representatives, Committee Members, and Supervisors must be qualified and trained per OHS Act requirements.
• Contractor health and safety officers must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience, understanding of ISO 45001:2018, and relevant occupational health and safety qualifications.
• All workers involved in the work must be trained in safe work procedures, hazard recognition, PPE use, and emergency response.
• Supervisors and site managers must conduct regular safety inspections, enforce compliance, and facilitate safety communication.
• Personnel must hold valid medical certificates of fitness and undergo medical surveillance as per legislation.
