Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a panel of qualified plumbing service providers within the Durban region to deliver plumbing services as required over a period of 36 months. Selected service providers will be invited on a rotational basis to fulfill service requests, ensuring efficient and compliant plumbing support across designated districts.

Scope

The scope includes providing plumbing services at various sites within the Durban region, including offices, depots, schools, and other facilities across multiple districts such as eThekwini, KwaDukuza, Ugu, and others. The services cover installation, maintenance, repairs, and related plumbing activities at specified locations, with an emphasis on compliance with technical standards and registration requirements.

Technical Requirements

• Registration with the Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB) is mandatory, with proof of registration submitted with the bid.
• Plumbers must hold a valid Durban Metro Plumber’s License/Ticket for eThekwini district.
• All materials used must be SABS/SANS approved.
• Artisans employed must have proof of qualifications; subcontracting is not permitted.
• Completion certificates (COC) must be issued after each completed job.
• Workmanship must be guaranteed for at least 3 months from completion.
• Service providers must comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act, including PPE requirements for employees working on Departmental property.
• Warranties on equipment must be honored by manufacturers, and equipment must be installed by approved installers.
• Service providers are responsible for their own insurance and legal compliance.

Skills Requirements

• Registered and qualified plumbers with valid PIRB registration and relevant licenses.
• Artisans with proven technical skills and experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repairs.
• Ability to respond promptly to service requests with guaranteed workmanship.
• Knowledge of relevant standards (SABS/SANS) and compliance with safety regulations.
• Capability to provide technical documentation such as Completion Certificates (COC).
• Effective communication and adherence to contractual and safety protocols.
