Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to repair and overhaul the gearbox of the Funky/shunting locomotive at Transnet Engineering, Welgedacht. The aim is to ensure the locomotive's gearbox is restored to optimal operational condition, thereby supporting Transnet's operational efficiency and reliability.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Repair and overhaul of the gearbox for the Funky/shunting locomotive.
• Provision of all necessary services, parts, and technical support required for the overhaul process.
• Compliance with specified technical standards and quality requirements.
• Adherence to delivery timelines and safety standards as stipulated in the tender documents.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• The service provider must supply new, unused, and reconditioned parts as specified.
• All work must be performed in accordance with the drawings, specifications, and standards provided by Transnet.
• The gearbox must be repaired and overhauled to meet or exceed original manufacturer specifications.
• The provider must demonstrate capability to deliver quality workmanship and materials.
• Samples, if required, must be submitted and comply with quality standards.
• The service provider must provide security for the fulfillment of the contract, if applicable.
• Prices must be quoted on a Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) basis to the specified delivery point in South Africa.
• All prices should be inclusive of VAT where applicable and in South African Rand (ZAR).
• The provider must comply with export licensing, quality, and other relevant technical standards as specified in the bid conditions.
• Delivery timelines should be realistic and aligned with operational requirements, with progress reports as needed.
