Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure services for the repairs and maintenance of the Boat House and Diver’s Den in the Port of Richards Bay over a period of three months. The work aims to ensure the safety, functionality, and compliance of the facilities, including replacing damaged components, maintaining structural integrity, and adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Replacement of damaged slats on roller shutter doors at Diver’s Den.
• Replacement of damaged U channels and cladding sheets on the Boat House and Diver’s Den.
• Servicing and maintenance of roller shutter doors, weather strips, rain barriers, and other structural elements.
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations, including OSH Act and Construction Regulations.
• Site management, security, and environmental controls during the execution of works.
• Rectification of defects identified during the defects liability period of three months post-completion.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Adherence to Employer’s Works Information and specifications, including standards such as SANS 1200.
• Implementation of environmental controls and safety measures as per the Employer’s Construction Environmental Management Plan.
• Proper security and site access procedures, including permits and safety inductions.
• Use of appropriate PPE and compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
• Provision of all necessary tools, equipment, and materials, with no employer-provided equipment.
• Regular site inspections, safety meetings, and progress reporting.
• Completion of works within the stipulated three-month period, with defect rectification during the maintenance phase.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified personnel with experience in structural repairs, carpentry, and maintenance of port facilities.
• Competent supervisors and safety officers certified in occupational health and safety standards.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and safety regulations.
• Proficiency in site management, environmental compliance, and risk mitigation.
• Knowledge of port operations, security protocols, and environmental management practices.
• Capability to coordinate with port authorities and adhere to strict access and safety procedures.
