Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure a reliable supplier for the supply and delivery of Coal Grade Peas (Foskor Grade) to Foskor Phalaborwa over a period of three years. The aim is to ensure continuous, high-quality coal supply that meets specified technical standards, supporting Foskor’s phosphate processing operations and fluidised bed drying processes.

Scope

The scope encompasses the annual supply of approximately 28,000 tons of Foskor Grade Peas coal, delivered over a three-year period. The work includes:

• Provision of coal that complies with detailed specifications (Annexure B), including particle size distribution and chemical elements.
• Delivery of coal in weekly quantities using floor back tipper trucks, with a total estimated volume of 84,000 tons over three years.
• Submission of quality certificates and analysis reports from SANAS-accredited laboratories.
• Participation in technical evaluation stages, including sample testing and quality assurance.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards, including Foskor’s COP 59 and Road Traffic Management Plan.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Supply of coal with specified calorific value (26.5 – 27.5 MJ/kg), ash content, total volatiles, sulphur content, moisture, fixed carbon, and particle size distribution (see Annexure B).
• Submission of a Certificate of Analysis for Particle Size Distribution and Chemical Elements from SANAS-accredited laboratories.
• Compliance with the specified particle size distribution (>25mm, <80%) and chemical specifications.
• Quality control procedures, including weekly PSD and chemical analysis testing, with results shared with Foskor.
• Delivery of samples for independent testing at various stages, including 2 x 5kg samples and 2 x 30-ton samples.
• Timely delivery of coal in weekly batches, with adherence to safety and road transport protocols.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Technical expertise in coal supply, handling, and quality assurance processes.
• Experience in supplying large volumes of coal to industrial operations, with proven track record.
• Capability to conduct and provide accredited laboratory analysis and quality certificates.
• Ability to coordinate logistics for weekly deliveries, including scheduling and compliance with safety standards.
• Competence in managing quality control procedures and responding to testing requirements.
• Understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations relevant to coal supply and transport.
