Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a thirty-six (36) month contract for the servicing and maintenance of mobile equipment automatic fire suppression systems across Foskor’s operations. The aim is to ensure reliable fire protection for mobile machinery, enhance safety standards, and maintain compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Inspection, servicing, maintenance, and certification of mobile equipment fire suppression systems (TMM and TBM).
• Provision of emergency and breakdown repair services, including after-hours support.
• Scheduled inspections every three months or as requested, on various mobile equipment such as excavators, haul trucks, generators, locomotives, cranes, and other heavy machinery.
• Provision of service vehicles compliant with safety standards for on-site operations in open pits and restricted areas.
• Management of spares, consumables, and certification of technicians.
• Adherence to safety, legislative, and environmental standards during service delivery.

Technical Requirements

The technical scope includes:

• Management of fire suppression systems supplied by ANSUL, FIREMATIC, and ASEX, including installation, servicing, and re-certification.
• Use of certified, trained technicians with valid SAQCC or equivalent certification, experienced in fire suppression systems.
• Provision of fully equipped, mine-compliant service vehicles capable of operating in rough terrain and restricted areas.
• Regular scheduled inspections (every three months) and prompt response to breakdowns or urgent repairs within specified timeframes (e.g., 30 mins after emergency call-out).
• Maintenance of detailed records, safety files, and compliance with SANS 1475-1 standards and other relevant legislation.
• Provision of PPE, tools, and safety equipment to personnel.
• Adherence to Foskor’s safety policies, permit-to-work procedures, and environmental standards.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires:

• Technicians and assistants fully trained and certified in fire suppression system maintenance, with certifications from ANSUL, FIREMATIC, ASEX, SAQCC, or equivalent.
• Two-page CVs for each allocated technician, demonstrating relevant experience and qualifications.
• Technicians must hold valid, current registration cards/certificates and be authorized to service fire suppression systems.
• Personnel must be trained in health, safety, and environmental procedures, including working at heights, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
• Availability of a fully equipped, mine-compliant service vehicle capable of operating in challenging environments.
• Provision of PPE and safety gear for all on-site personnel.
• Experience in managing similar service contracts, with references and objective evidence of past performance.
