Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to outsource a service provider responsible for the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of 10 walk-in fridge/cold rooms at the J Tac Headquarters in Limpopo. The project aims to ensure the operational readiness of cold storage facilities capable of functioning under harsh environmental and operational conditions, supporting military logistics and operational needs.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply and connection of heavy-duty walk-in fridge/freezers suitable for military field conditions.
• Integration of refrigeration units with backup power systems (generators).
• Testing, commissioning, and training of personnel on the operation and maintenance of the units.
• Delivery to remote operational bases, considering logistical challenges such as difficult terrain and security during transit.
• Provision of operation and maintenance manuals, training, and warranty support for a minimum of 24 months.

The detailed technical scope specifies reinforced doors with airtight rubber seals, integration with existing generator systems, and units capable of operating under extreme temperatures and dust conditions.

• Size of each cold room:
  • Length: 5380mm
  • Width: 2420mm
  • Height: 2800mm
• Temperature requirements:
  • Chillers: 0°C to 5°C
  • Freezers: -18°C to -25°C
• Cooling system:
  • Tropicalized refrigeration units suitable for high ambient temperatures.
• Energy efficiency, low maintenance, and security features are mandatory.
• Units must be suitable for operation in remote, harsh environments with logistical constraints.

All units must undergo leak, pressure, electrical, and performance testing under load conditions before acceptance.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in supplying and installing military-grade walk-in refrigeration systems.
• Technical expertise in refrigeration engineering, especially for tropicalized and rugged environments.
• Capability to integrate refrigeration units with backup power systems (generators).
• Ability to conduct comprehensive testing, commissioning, and training for end-users.
• Logistical capacity to deliver and install equipment in remote, challenging terrains.
• Provision of ongoing maintenance and warranty support, including technical documentation and user manuals.
