Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure maintenance services for UPS systems, batteries, and battery tripping units at OR Tambo International Airport and Western Precinct over a period of 8 months. The aim is to ensure the reliable operation and safety of critical power backup infrastructure through qualified maintenance and support.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of maintenance services for UPS units, batteries, and battery tripping units at specified locations.
• Demonstration of relevant experience in maintaining similar systems over the past three years.
• Provision of qualified personnel, including site managers, electricians, and safety officers, with appropriate certifications and experience.
• Supply of necessary plant, equipment, and resources to perform the maintenance activities.
• Adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards as specified in the tender documentation.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Demonstration of at least three years’ experience in UPS and battery maintenance, supported by contactable references.
• Provision of qualified personnel with relevant certifications (e.g., SAQA-approved qualifications, wireman’s license, SHEQ/OHS training).
• Submission of detailed CVs, qualification certificates, and project experience for key personnel.
• Implementation of a comprehensive project plan and schedule of activities.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including SHE policies, risk assessments, emergency procedures, and safety training.
• Provision of plant and equipment lists, including ownership or lease details, for the execution of maintenance tasks.
• Adherence to quality standards and environmental management practices.

Skills Requirements

The skills and competencies required from bidders include:

• Technical expertise in maintenance of UPS systems, batteries, and battery tripping units.
• Qualified technical personnel with relevant certifications and experience in electrical, instrumentation, or electronics fields.
• Experience in managing maintenance projects at airport facilities or similar critical infrastructure.
• Strong safety management skills, including SHEQ/OHS compliance, risk assessment, and emergency response planning.
• Effective communication and reporting skills, including preparation of project plans, safety reports, and progress updates.
• Ability to provide proof of previous relevant experience, references, and project completion certificates.
